October 29, (THEWILL) – Aston Villa continued their sensational home form on Sunday, with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Luton Town at Villa Park. The win marked Villa’s 12th consecutive English Premier League triumph on home soil, highlighting their strength in Birmingham under manager Unai Emery.
Villa controlled the match from the outset, taking the lead in the 17th minute through a John McGinn goal. Moussa Diaby doubled their advantage shortly after halftime, before Luton’s Tom Lockyer scored an own goal just past the hour mark to put the game out of reach at 3-0.
Luton got a consolation goal late on when Ezri Konsa’s header deflected off Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez and in, but it did little to take the shine off a dominant display by the home side. Villa have now scored 13 goals over their last three league games at Villa Park.
The result leaves Villa well-positioned for a top-four challenge this season. They have winnable games against Nottingham Forest and Fulham up next before a clash with league leaders Tottenham on November 26.
For Luton, it was a seventh defeat in 10 EPL matches as they continue to find the top flight a difficult transition from the Championship. Still, they showed spirit late on and will hope to build on that in their upcoming fixtures.
