December 06, (THEWILL) – UFC heavyweight, Tom Aspinall has revealed his insights and is set on potential future matchups with MMA legends, Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. The 30-year-old Brit solidified himself as a top title contender after a first-round TKO over Sergei Pavlovich, at UFC 295, on just two weeks’ notice.

Aspinall’s confidence is sky-high and aims to cement his place among the UFC’s best big men. Securing bouts with former champions, Jones and Miocic is his top priority, aware their championship windows are closing due to age. “I want their names on my resume and I want to be in the win column,” said Aspinall.

Unifying the heavyweight title is Aspinall’s main goal. He currently holds the interim belt while Jones owns the undisputed strap. “You don’t have multiple champions in a weight, you have one champion,” stated Aspinall. However, he knows UFC President, Dana White, hopes to book a Jones-Miocic “legacy fight.”

Still, Aspinall believes his destruction of Pavlovich should warrant consideration for a title shot. “I just knocked out the scariest guy in the division in a minute without a training camp,” he asserted. The Manchester native proposed fighting on the milestone UFC 300 card this April/May, alternatively, headlining a UK hometown in June/July.

Aspinall has competed at renowned venues like The O2 Arena and Madison Square Garden. Still, bringing the Octagon to Manchester would mark a special moment. “That would mean everything to me,” he confessed. Wherever and whenever the bout takes place, Aspinall is determined to vie for UFC glory in 2023.
