June 24, (THEWILL) – Barcelona Femeni were confirmed winners of the Primera Iberdrola as early as last month just before they went on to claim the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy, yet they have not stopped winning just as Nigerian striker, Asisat Oshoala had not stopped scoring.

On Thursday, it was more of the same again with an authoritative 5-0 trouncing of Sporting Huelva, at their Johan Cruyff grounds in the penultimate game of the league campaign for the 2020/2021 football season in the Spanish female division.

The game opened with a Lieke Martens goal when she converted a cross from Caroline Graham Hansen in the 22nd minute. The Norwegian was again on hand to play a role in the build-up to Jennifer Hermoso’s goal, as Barca’s leading goal-scorer extended her tally to 27 goals.

The teams went into the break with Barca two goals up and it remained that way until four minutes past the hour mark with the champions dominating proceedings. Hermoso became provider for Barca’s third which Aitana Bonmati finished off to pave the way for two more.

With three minutes left on the clock in regulation time, the captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Oshoala, accepted a through ball from Marta Torrejón before thumping a fine delivery into the Sporting Huelva net for her 17th goal of the season and Barca’s fourth for the match.

Yet, there was still time for Torrejón to get in on the action just after providing the assist for the Oshoala goal. She got in on the end of a Martens’ pass deep into injury time to head home the fifth and take their total goals for the season to an incredible 158 goals in 33 matches with a goal difference of 144.

They have only lost once all season and are rewriting the history books with the phenomenal season that is topped by the amazing treble of trophies they have already lifted: the Primera Iberdrola, the UWCL and the Copa de la Reina.
