February 08, (THEWILL) – The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof) Joseph Chike Edozien, is dead.
While the palace has not formally announced his passing, THEWILL reports that Edozien, the 13th Asagba of Asaba, the traditional ruler of Asaba, the Delta State capital, died on Wednesday, just a month after he commenced activities marking his 100th birthday anniversary.
Efforts to get an official response from the Palace Secretary, Chief Patrick Ndili, at the time of filing this report were unsuccessful.
The monarch retired as a Professor Emeritus of the University of North Carolina and returned to Nigeria in 1991 when he was crowned as Asagba of Asaba.
