Arya Starr Apologises For Disrespecting King Sunny Ade At Event

January 27, (THEWILL) – Singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, recently disrespected music icon, Sunday Adegeye, aka King Sunny Ade, with the way and manner she exchanged pleasantries with him.

The incident took place at the Afrozons-Heineken Pre-Grammy party in Lagos.

In a viral video, the 21-year-old was seen exchanging greetings with Bose Ogulu, the mother of Grammy-winning singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, who was at the event.

Arya Starr subsequently shook hands with Sunny Ade, an action that she has been widely condemned for and regarded as disrespectful and inappropriate by many.

Realising what she had done, she took to her X handle on Saturday, to issue a public apology.

“I’m so sorry. I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didn’t let me see. But I came back around to greet everyone properly.

“I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, I’m a proper Yoruba girl and the video didn’t start until after I’d greeted Burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade.”
