June 16, (THEWILL) – Arsenal has reportedly struck a €40 million (£34.13 million) deal to land the services of Fabio Vieira in a summer transfer move from Premeira Liga side Porto.
According to fresh reports, the 22-year-old offensive midfielder will travel to London in the coming hours to sign a five-year contract thought to be for €35 million guaranteed, plus another €5 million in “achievable” add-ons. Although Vieira’s release clause is €50 million, Porto has accepted Arsenal’s offer.
After 19-year-old striker Marquinhos, who arrived from Sao Paulo, Vieira would be Arsenal’s second summer acquisition. The latter came up through Porto’s youth system and had an outstanding 2021/2022 season, scoring seven goals and assisting on 16 occasions. At the 2021 European Under-21 Championship, he was selected player of the tournament.
It is a sign of things to come for the Gunners as Gabriel Jesus, Manchester City Brazilian striker, is also a target for Arsenal. Alexandre Lacazette’s return to Lyon, left the Gunners with a weakened attacking line, but the London side is “increasingly confident” about a deal for Jesus, to bolster their goal-getting.
Their initial offer was said to be worth up to £30 million, but it is anticipated to be increased substantially to get closer to City’s £50 million estimate. Also, Leicester’s Youri Tielemans has also been linked with a move to the Emirates as he enters the final year of his contract.
