January 20, (THEWILL) – Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Polish central defender, Jakub Kiwior, from Serie A side, Spezia, for a reported €20million (£17.5million).

The 22-year-old has played 37 times for Spezia since joining from Zilina in Poland in 2021, and has also earned nine appearances for the Polish national team.

The news comes as shrewd business for Arsenal, who are currently leading the Premier League, and had been linked with £85m deal for Ukrainian forward, Mykhaylo Mudryk, before he joined Chelsea. However, they now appear to be close to signing 28-year-old Belgian winger, Leandro Trossard, from Brighton for £27m.

The signing of Kiwior and Trossard, if confirmed, would be key additions for squad depth, as the Gunners continue to contest the English Premier League and UEFA Europa League titles. They will need to act quickly if they want to have them available for their next game, which is against Manchester United on Sunday, at the Emirates.

With Manchester United sitting in third place, they are a potential title rival, after last weekend’s win over Manchester City.
