January 17, (THEWILL) – English Premier League leaders, Arsenal have shown interest in signing West Ham United captain, Declan Rice.
The 24-year-old has been previously linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool, but this is the first indication that Arsenal is interested in signing the England international.
The success of the Gunners’ EPL campaign so far has allowed the club to revisit their list of potential targets, and Rice is said to be on their radar. Rice’s contract at West Ham runs until 2024, with an option for an additional year, but the team’s struggles this season could lead him to leave the club in the summer to pursue a career in the Champions League.
West Ham has previously stated in unambiguous terms that any interested party will need to pay at least £100m to sign Rice. It is as yet unclear if the very thrifty Gunners are ready to meet that asking price.
