March 22, (THEWILL) – Serbian midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been linked with a transfer to the English Premier League for years, may finally depart Lazio this summer.
The 28-year-old is getting towards the end of his contract, which could mean that Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their midfield, could land him at a reduced fee. Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly among their top candidates as Edu Gaspar continues to plug holes in their squad depth.
Lazio are said to have accepted the high possibility of losing Milinkovic-Savic in June and are already making contingency plans. Their top target is Scottish midfielder, Lewis Ferguson, who has been impressive in Italy this season, scoring four goals in 22 appearances with Bologna. However, other major Italian clubs are also reportedly interested in Ferguson, which could lead to a bidding war.
Milinkovic-Savic’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season, and Lazio are reportedly willing to accept bids of £44m. However, his representatives are reportedly looking to bring down the figure to £31m, which could make him an attractive prospect for Arsenal.
