“Suspected Boko Haram terrorists abducted six persons from the village. The troops in conjunction with local vigilantes familiar with the area trailed the terrorists up to Mangari village, killed two of them and rescued the abducted persons,” he said.
“The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles. The rescued persons have been reunited with their family.”
Usman, in a statement on Saturday, declared that some “negative comments and publications” on the military’s war against Boko Haram would not deter the army from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.
“This worrisome trend is observed mostly whenever we record successes in our military operations against Boko Haram terrorists and other laudable endeavours such as when the United States Government decided to sell Tucano aircrafts to Nigeria.
“Such unguarded utterances and malicious allegations by individuals and reports by non-governmental organisations are false and ill-timed.
“We will continue to clear the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists wherever they might be hiding,” he declared.
