August 26, (THEWILL) – A lecturer at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Udufu Alike Ikwo, Barr Iheanacho Agboti, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to appoint a corrupt-free minded individual, to serve as the chairman of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC).

Barr Agboti, a renowned lawyer, further outlined accessibility, open door policy and result-oriented attitudes in galvanising the people of the South-East to vote in favour of Mr President’s second tenure ambition in the 2027 general elections, should be visible in such an individual.

He made this known on Sunday while speaking to Journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, where he also advised Mr President to look inward before making the appointment.

“And that is why I’m urging Mr President to look inward and appoint a capable Igbo son, who would chair the newly established South-East Development Commission (SEDC) and such a person should be corrupt-free, a result-oriented individual, who has the capability to galvanise south-east in favour of APC and your re-election in 2027”, he stated.

The lawyer, who also commended Mr President for assenting to the law, the bill establishing the South-East Development Commission (SEDC), further recommended the likes of the former governor of Enugu, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, the former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani and the son to the civilian governor in old Anambra State in 1983, Dr Josef Onoh, among the credible Igbo sons to occupy the Commission.

It was gathered that Onoh represented the Enugu North constituency in 2003 and has served as executive chairman office of the governor, Enugu Capital territory, under the past administration, led by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Also, Barr Agboti stressed that the good governance being experienced by the five states in the South-East under Tinubu’s administration is a reflection of a turning point since the Civil war

“And this apparent change in governance, which should not be neglected but calls for support from the South-East and Ndigbo in general, is Tinubu’s led government.

“This is very important because the 2027 election would be crucial and I’m using this medium to join voices with South-East stakeholders to call on Ndigbo both at home and in the diaspora to support this administration”, he noted.
