August 20, (THEWILL) — The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue collection after generating N28.10 billion within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The latest figure represents a significant increase from the Command’s previous daily record of N20.1 billion, which was achieved in September 2025.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman, a Chief Superintendent of Customs, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He described the N28.10 billion collection as another major revenue milestone for the Apapa Command.
Record Follows N323bn July Collection
The latest daily revenue record comes barely weeks after the Command reported an unprecedented N323 billion collection in July 2026.
According to the Customs Service, the back-to-back records reflect the impact of reforms, improved compliance among importers and other stakeholders, enhanced trade facilitation and intelligence-driven interventions.
The Command also attributed the improvement to greater efficiency in digital customs processes, which have increasingly been deployed to simplify operations and strengthen revenue collection.
The N28.10 billion daily collection represents about a 40 percent increase over the previous N20.1 billion record.
The development further highlights the growing revenue contribution of the Apapa Command, one of the country’s major gateways for international trade.

Speaking on the latest achievement, the Customs Area Controller, Emmanuel Oshoba, said the milestone should not be viewed solely as a revenue or record-breaking achievement.
He said the funds generated by the NCS form part of government resources used to finance public priorities and provide services that affect Nigerians.
According to Oshoba, revenue from customs contributes to areas including infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.
He therefore commended officers and other stakeholders at the Command for their role in improving revenue performance while facilitating legitimate trade.
Oshoba also acknowledged the support of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the NCS management team for their continued emphasis on modernisation, automation and reforms.
He said the measures were helping to make customs operations more efficient, transparent and business-friendly.
The Customs Area Controller dedicated the latest revenue milestone to the government and people of Nigeria, stressing the broader economic significance of the Command’s performance.
The latest record comes as the Nigeria Customs Service continues to push digitalisation and intelligence-led enforcement as part of efforts to improve revenue mobilisation while reducing delays and bottlenecks at the country’s ports.
