Amusan Sets Pace For A Promising 2023 Season With 200m Win At Auburn

March 19, (THEWILL) – Tobi Amusan, the world record holder, kicked off her 2023 season with a flourish, claiming victory in the Women’s 200m event at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Alabama.

The Nigerian sprinter clocked a time of 23.38s, finishing ahead of Chante Clinkscale in 23.56s. Amusan has been known for her success in hurdles, but she has also proven to be a strong contender in sprint events, including the 100m and 200m.

Amusan had previously set personal bests of 11.11s and 22.60s in the 100m and 200m, respectively, and was determined to showcase her talent at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic. Her victory over Clinkscale and Kaitlin Hill in her first competitive appearance since September 2022, demonstrated her readiness to defend her world title in Budapest and retain her Diamond League title.

The win for the speedster in Auburn is a promising start to the year for the Nigerian athlete, who enjoyed a remarkable run of form last year. She broke the 100m hurdles world record with a time of 12.12s in Oregon and went on to claim the world title and the Commonwealth top podium prize.

With the 2023 season now in full swing, Amusan will be looking to continue her impressive form and make more history on the track.
