September 10, (THEWILL) – Fred Kerley, silver medallist at the recently concluded Olympic Games, crossed the finish line in a time of 9.87 seconds to claim victory in the men’s 100m and win a second Diamond Trophy in Zurich on Thursday.

While Kerley missed the personal best time he set at Tokyo 2020 by just 0.03 seconds behind the gold medalist, Italy’s Lamont Jacobs, it was enough to win him the Zurich race.

Andre de Grasse, who won bronze at the Games, finished behind the American and could do nothing to stop Kerley from sealing a second successive Diamond League 100m victory.

De Grasse, who won the Olympic 200m, finished the Zurich race with a personal best time of 9.89, a mere 0.02 seconds behind Kerley but enough to beat Ronnie Baker by two-hundredths of a second into a third-place finish.

The speed of the entire field was evident as fourth-placed Trayvon Brommell was the fourth sprinter to go sub-10 seconds as he finished in 9.96 seconds.

De Grasse got the better of Kerley in the men’s 200m but came second again as Kenneth Bednarek claimed the win in a time of 19.70.
