March 16 (THEWILL) – Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez has signed a one-year extension, securing his place with the team through the 2027-2028 season.
The Argentine World Cup winner has scored 10 goals in 33 games for the club so far, and City is confident that he will continue to improve over the next five years. Although he is currently playing in the shadow of Erling Haaland, City believes Alvarez has the potential to become one of the world’s most-feared strikers.
Alvarez himself is optimistic about his future with City, saying that he has more to offer and that the club offers him everything he needs to reach his potential. City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, described Alvarez as “the ideal blueprint for a young footballer” and is excited to see how the striker will develop over the next few years.
Alvarez’s four goals in the World Cup have also underscored his progress and potential. With City’s support and confidence, Alvarez is poised to continue to fine-tune his skills and improve on his talents under the watchful and experienced eyes of the club manager, Pep Guardiola.
