SAN FRANCISCO, October 28, (THEWILL) – The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abba Kyari, on Friday resumed for duties at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, taunting masterminds of recent online reports that he had been suspended for allegedly receiving bribe.
On his way to the President’s office, Kyari stopped by at the Press Gallery of the Council Chamber, where he suggested that he was not suspended as insinuated in some quarters.
While returning to his office, he jokingly asked reporters he saw “Are you going to tweet that I am back?”, as he clarified that he was only on leave and had resumed.
When some of the newsmen pressed him to formally react to the reports of his suspension, the Chief of Staff said: “I don’t talk to the press. You know my job doesn’t hold me talking.”
The President’s Chief of Staff, when probed further, asked: “Can’t I go on leave?”
The social media had been agog with reports that the President suspended his Chief of Staff for allegedly collecting bribe to see to the reduction of the fine imposed on a telecoms company, MTN Nigeria, by the Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC.
