Algeria Beat Tanzania 2-0 To Take Charge Of Group F In AFCON Qualifiers

June 08, (THEWILL) – Rami Bensebaini and Mohamed El Amine Amoura scored in each half as Algeria beat Tanzania’s Taifa Stars 2-0 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday

It was a victory that secured back-to-back victories for the North Americans in the TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Just before half time, Aissa mandi glanced back a Youcef Bellaili freekick at the near post, and Bensebaini completed the move to break the deadlock. Tanzania came close to equalising when Samatta set up Salum Feisal, but the Algerian goalkeeper saved the Yanga midfielder’s rasping attempt.

Algeria pressed on, with substitute Amoura scoring his first goal for Algeria after his initial shot hit the post and dropped pleasantly to Ismail Bennacer, who laid it back to him to unleash an unstoppable shot from within the box into the roof of the net.

Les Fennecs, the 2019 African champions, began their campaign with a similar victory against Uganda at home, and have now won consecutive matches against both East African neighbours. Djamel Belmadi’s side now has six points and is in first place in Group F, four points clear of second-placed Niger, who drew 1-1 with Uganda earlier in the day.
