July 18, (THEWILL) – Carlos Alcaraz, the newly-crowned Wimbledon champion, has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Hopman Cup tournament in France.

Speaking to Spanish sports daily Marca, the 20-year-old admitted that he was eager to represent Spain in the mixed team event, pointing out that it was always a source of pride for him. Alcaraz’s decision to compete in the tournament comes after his remarkable victory over Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon, where he claimed his second Grand Slam title and ended the Serbian’s grip on the Grand Slam.

The Hopman Cup, which returns after a four-year hiatus, will take place in Nice on the French Riviera. Alcaraz will team up with Rebeka Masarova, who is currently ranked 72nd, as they aim to make their mark in the prestigious tournament.
