February 20, (THEWILL) – Carlos Alcaraz has clinched the title at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires, with a stunning 6-3 7-5 victory over Cameron Norrie.

The 19-year-old Spaniard had missed the Australian Open due to a hamstring injury, which saw him lose his top spot in the rankings to Novak Djokovic. However, Alcaraz’s recent win now places him within 590 points of the Serbian in the rankings.

The first set of the final was an even affair, but at 3-3, Alcaraz started to dominate his opponent with his racquet speed, which Norrie could not cope with. Alcaraz took the first set 6-3 and continued his dominance in the second set, gaining a 3-0 lead. Although Norrie managed to claw his way back to 5-5, Alcaraz secured the final set 7-5 to win the title.

After the win, Alcaraz spoke about how comfortable he felt during the final and how he knew it was going to be a difficult match. He also gave a shout-out to Norrie, acknowledging him as a tough player to play against and one of the best guys on tour.

Norrie also congratulated Alcaraz on his win and expressed his delight at seeing him back on the tour.
