July 19, (THEWILL) – Saudi Pro League side, Al-Ahli, has reportedly reached an agreement with treble-winning Manchester City over the transfer of talented winger, Riyad Mahrez, with the deal believed to be worth an estimated £30 million.
Add-ons could potentially increase the overall value to around £33 million. The 32-year-old Algerian is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Thursday, ahead of his move to the Saudi Pro League club.
Mahrez, who is set to sign a three-year contract with the option of an additional year, has been excluded from City’s pre-season tour to Japan. The English Premier League champions are reportedly looking to secure a replacement winger in the event of Mahrez’s departure. However, they are determined to retain the services of Bernardo Silva, who has attracted interest from another Saudi Pro League club, Al-Hilal.
While Pep Guardiola is keen on keeping both Mahrez and Silva, the Etihad Club remains open to the potential transfer of the Algerian winger. For Silva, the club has placed an approximate £100 million valuation on the Portuguese playmaker, taking into account Declan Rice’s valuation when he departed West Ham for Arsenal. City, therefore, aim to hold onto Silva unless a club matches that value.
Following their remarkable Treble triumph last season, Manchester City has seen several members of their first-team squad linked with moves away from the Etihad Stadium. Mahrez, their Algerian international winger, is set to become the latest to exit the Etihad.
