January 05, (THEWILL) –Â Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, has commended the chairman of Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Israel Idiasim for his efforts at improving the welfare of his people.
Ekpo gave the commendation during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the creation of the local council and empowerment programme by the chairman.
The Deputy Governor who was represented by his Press Secretary Mr Ekikere Umoh appreciated Idaisin for the love he has for his people and urged other Council chairmen in the State to emulate the leadership style
In a welcome speech at the event, the chairman noted that the creation of the Local Council has brought development closer to the people of the area. Thanking God for keeping them alive to witness the event which he said was aimed at celebrating the genealogical existence of the area.
“We are here to celebrate ourselves as a united force, and to reward and honour our distinguished citizens, who have achieved outstanding success in various walks of life and disciplines as well as to empower our supporters for their various contributions.” He said.
The Council Helmsman fulfilled his campaign promises by lifting 15 families out of poverty through empowering his supporters with 15 Mini Buses and gave out over 500 bags of rice and cash to the Elders, Women, Youths and the Council Staff of Ini Local Govt.
High points of the event was Prayers and Ministration, cutting of the Anniversary Cake, Award Presentation and Food Exhibition.
One of the Awardees Prof. Nyaudo Ndaeyo, the Vice Chancellor of University of Uyo who responded on behalf of all the awardees, thanked Idaisin for maintaining peace and setting a new path in Ini Local Govt. Area to honour citizens.
THEWILL reports that Ini LGA was one of the ten local governments created out of Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State by the late General Sani Abacha’s administration in 1991.
