March 01, (THEWILL) – Rasheedat Ajibade of the Super Falcons has been nominated for the Jugadora Cinco Estrellas for Atletico Madrid’s female team. The award is granted to the most impressive player for Atletico Femenino in the month under review, as determined by supporters.
Ajibade, who was on fire in February, is up against Ludmila Silva, Laia Aleixandri, Shei Garcia, and Estefi Banini for the award.
In February, the former FC Robo star scored four goals in four games. She has nine goals in seventeen league games this season in the Primera Femenina Division and is a deserved contender for the monthly award.
Her strong form also helped the Super Falcons defeat Cote D’Ivoire in the last qualifier for the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) played in Ivory Coast.
Atletico Femenino presently sits fourth in Spain’s Primera Ibedrola Division with 42 points, twenty-four points behind table toppers Barcelona. Her rising stock has seen her improve her form this season and stake a stronger claim for a regular spot on the team.
In January, the Super Falcons’ star signed a new three-year contract extension with the club.
