May 26, (THEWILL) – Pitso Mosimane, the renowned South African coach, is generating buzz as a potential candidate to lead the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
With an illustrious track record, including three CAF Champions League titles during his tenure at Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, as well as his recent achievement of securing promotion with Al-Ahli Saudi FC, Mosimane has proven himself worthy of coaching the three-time African champions and guide the host of stars in the squad to where it belongs at the top of African football.
According to reports monitored by THEWILL, Mosimane is among the top five coaches being considered to replace Jose Peseiro as the head coach of Nigeria’s senior national team. Yet, Nigeria is scarcely the only interested party. Mosimane’s talents have attracted the attention of other clubs as well. The Tunisian club, Esperance, has also included him on their wishlist, adding to the speculation surrounding his next move.

However, there is uncertainty surrounding his current position at Al-Ahli, as the team has suffered three consecutive defeats since their promotion to the top division. This downturn in performance appears to have affected Mosimane’s standing with the Saudi Arabian club’s management, who are reportedly exploring alternative managerial options, including the likes of Max Allegri.
Still, there is fresh focus on Allegri in the Gulf country beyond being considered by Al-Ahli, as Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, a rival Saudi Arabian club, is also showing interest in securing his services. The question of whether Mosimane’s coaching journey will continue in Saudi Arabia or if he will embark on a new adventure in Nigeria will be answered in due time.
