Adams Nets Impressive Double As Montpellier Down Toulouse

October 29, (THEWILL) – Montpellier’s new signing, Akor Adams, was the hero in their 3-0 thrashing of Toulouse on Sunday. The Nigerian striker bagged a brace to help La Paillade return to winning ways in Ligue 1.

Adams, who joined Montpellier this summer, opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a superb volley into the bottom corner. Toulouse had no answer to the 23-year-old’s pace and movement as he constantly troubled their defence.

Montpellier continued to control the game but struggled to add to their lead before the break. The second half saw them push for a decisive second goal, with Adams going close early on.

It was midfielder Khalil Fayad who eventually doubled La Paillade’s advantage three minutes after the hour-mark. Adams then wrapped up a comfortable victory late on, racing clear on the counterattack before calmly slotting the ball past the Toulouse keeper Guillaume Restes.

The win sees Montpellier leapfrog Toulouse to 11th in the Ligue 1 table with 11 points with a match in hand. Adams’ brace underlined his potential and suggested he could be a real threat in France’s top flight this season.
