December 24, (THEWILL) – Popular Yoruba actor and movie director, Azeez Ololade Ijaduade, who was on Saturday night shot by a policeman in the Iperu area of Ogun State, is currently battling for his life at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital.
The news of the incident was announced by his colleague, Abiodun Adebanjo, in a post via his Instagram page.
Adebanjo said, “Please we need help in Iperu. My director, Azeez Ijaduade, @kingzeez1, was shot by Nigeria Police personnel. Anybody with the contacts of the Police IG or Commissioner should reach out.”
The actor, who was partying during Bramaj Company’s end-of-the-year party at Napoli Hotel, was shot in the neck by a trigger-happy police officer attached to a Chinese expatriate.
However, the State Police Command claims the victim was hit by a shot that was mistakenly discharged by a police officer on Sunday.
The Command further disclosed that the actor had been rushed to the hospital where he was said to be currently responding to treatment.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, has paid a visit to Ijaduade. He arrived at the In-Patient Wards of the Babcock University Teaching Hospital around 11 am on Sunday and was ushered into the male surgical ward where Ijaduade was admitted after the senior cop had listened to some colleagues of the victim.
Alamutu disclosed that the officer who fired the shot is already facing disciplinary action.
According to him, the unnamed cop had fired a bullet into the air to disperse thugs who wanted to mob the personality he was attached to.
Alamutu, who said the shooting was unfortunate and uncalled for, expressed joy that the actor is in a stable condition.
