August 31, (THEWILL) – AC Milan have completed the signing of English striker, Tammy Abraham, on a one-year loan deal from fellow Serie A club AS Roma. The two Italian sides confirmed the transfer on Friday.
The 26-year-old joined Roma from Chelsea in 2021 and made an immediate impact, scoring 27 goals in his first season and helping the club win the UEFA Conference League. However, his form dipped in subsequent campaigns, with an anterior cruciate ligament injury limiting his playing time during the 2023/2024 season.
The England international found himself with reduced opportunities at Roma this season following the arrival of Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk. Dovbyk, who finished top scorer in Spain’s La Liga last season with 24 goals, pushed Abraham down the pecking order at the Roman club.
Milan will hope Abraham can rediscover his goalscoring touch and provide additional firepower to their attack. The loan move offers the striker a chance to revitalise his career and potentially earn a permanent transfer if he performs well.
The deal marks another significant move in the Serie A transfer market, with both clubs aiming to strengthen their squads for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season. Abraham’s arrival at San Siro could prove crucial in Milan’s pursuit of domestic and European success.
