AC Milan Face Competition From Genoa, Cagliari For Ikwuemesi

JUne 24, (THEWILL) – Italian Serie A returnees, Genoa and Cagliari, along with seven-time UEFA Champions League winners AC Milan, are vying for the signature of former Flying Eagles centre-forward, Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi.

Genoa and Cagliari have reportedly initiated talks with the Nigerian striker’s representatives, intensifying the competition for his services in the Italian top flight. Both clubs are determined to secure Ikwuemesi’s signing as they prepare for the upcoming Serie A campaign.

Genoa, having secured promotion by finishing second in Serie B last season, are keen to enlist the talents of the Nigerian striker to retain their Serie A status. Similarly, Cagliari, who earned promotion through the playoffs after finishing fifth in the regular season, aim to bolster their attacking options by adding Ikwuemesi to their squad. The 21-year-old displayed impressive form with NK in the Slovenian Prva Liga last season, recording nine goals and five assists in 30 appearances, marking his most productive goal contribution since his move to Europe.

Ikwuemesi was a member of the Flying Eagles of Nigeria team led by coach Ladan Bosso during the 2020 WAFU B U20 Championship, further proving his potential as a rising talent in Nigerian football and a potential star in Europe.
