Abiodun Mourns Professor Of Mathematics Kuku

February 16, (THEWILL) – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has expressed condolences to the family of a renowned mathematician and scientist, Prof Aderemi Oluyomi Kuku, over his demise.

Abiodun, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said that not only Nigeria will miss the professor, but the global academia.

He stressed that his work will continue to stand as a testimony of his diligence and brilliance, while his published and researched works in Mathematics, will continue to be points of reference.

The governor further eulogised his consistent contribution to global knowledge since 1982 when he turned a full professor, serving variously as President of the African Mathematical Union (AMU), Member of the International Mathematical Union Commission on Development and Exchange and President of The African Academy of Sciences.

He noted that the late scholar and administrator made Nigeria proud in his chosen academic field.

“The academia whose scholar’s drive and love for knowledge earned him many recognitions and awards, which include NNOM (Nigerian National Order of Merit), the highest honour in Nigeria for academic excellence, OON (Officer of the Order of the Niger), Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, Fellow of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria and Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences, will be greatly missed”. Abiodun added

He, however, prayed to God to rest the soul of the deceased and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
