Sor Strikes Twice To Rescue Point For Genk Against Orban’s Gent

December 03,(THEWILL) – KRC Genk played out an eventful 2-2 draw with KAA Gent in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday. In an enthralling match at the Cegeka Arena, the home side went ahead through Tarik Tissoudali before Nigerian forward, Yira Collins Sor, levelled for Genk.

This was Sor’s first goal contribution of the keenly contested encounter between two sides aiming to keep pace with league leaders, Royale Union St. Gilloise.

Despite his limited game time this season, Sor grabbed a rare opportunity on Sunday, by scoring a crucial goal for his team. The forward guided Genk into the lead in the second half, only for Tissoudali to score again and secure a point for Gent with a late equaliser. Tissoudali’s strike partner, Nigerian Gift Orban, could not find the net in the encounter.

The result means Genk remain on 25 points, staying 10 points behind Union SG in second place. Sor will be hoping his standout performance earns more game time, as Genk turn focus to the clash against Oostende next week.

Looking ahead, the forward will aim to establish himself as a first-team starter after seizing his chance and making a significant contribution. His two goals in the entertaining draw provide a solid platform for regular minutes going forward.
