SAN FRANCISCO, July 05, (THEWILL) – Rampaging Boko Haram Saturday returned to Mussa 1 and 11, twin villages in the Askira/ Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, setting 32 Churches and 300 houses on fire and killing 10 persons, with the insurgents losing three of their gunmen.

Only last week, the insurgents killed at least 29 civilians in Mussa village and burnt some houses.

The chairman of the youth vigilante group in the village, Stephen Apagu, who confirmed the fresh attack on Sunday, said “all 32 churches in Mussa district and over 300 houses were burnt down.”

According to Apagu,”They (insurgents) killed 10 persons and three Boko Haram were equally dead but all 32 churches in Mussa District were burnt as well as over 300 homes were completely wiped out .”

He further disclosed that “Our people have been camped in Gombio village,” saying “there is no foods and water.”

He lamented that “even that place is not safe; we call on the authorities to come to our aid now as we are seriously in helpless situation.”

However, a local resident, Peter Musa,‎ who escaped the attack, said “we know their leader,” adding ” we had reported him to the military before he suddenly disappeared, he is from here (Mussa District), he is one Jerido Jerafu who led his members to invade our communities.”
