An eyewitness said the cause of the auto crash was a wrongful overtake of the truck by the Toyota Camry, causing the truck to lose control and ram into the Toyota Sienna in front of it.

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps(TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the occurrence of the accident to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi said the total number of the occupants involved in the crash were nine: four rescued unhurt, two seriously injured and the rest dead.

He said their corpses have been deposited at Idera morgue in Sagamu while the injured have been taken to Famobis hospital in Lotto.

The TRACE spokesperson said traffic was initially affected but later cleared by their officers and the police.
