March 18, (THEWILL) – For a spectacular goal against LASK at Raiffeisen Arena on Thursday, Slavia Prague’s Nigerian youth international, Yira Collins Sor, has been nominated for the official UEFA Europa Conference League Goal of the Week.
The 21-year-old is one of a four-man shortlist for the award, which also includes Vitesse Arnhem’s Maximilian Wittek, Cengiz Under of Olympique de Marseille, and Douglas Augusto of Greek side PAOK FC.
Sor scored the game’s third goal in the 62nd minute, when he sprinted with the ball from his own half, past two LASK players, and into the net.
He has been the standout performer of the Europa Conference League’s knockout rounds, scoring five goals and adding two assists in four outings.
Sor’s nomination is made even more impressive given that the Nigerian only made his European debut about a month ago. In the January transfer window, Slavia Prague signed the Nigerian winger from Banik Ostrava on a contract that runs through December 2026.
Nonso Madueke (PSV), Peter Olayinka (Slavia Prague), and Cyriel Dessers (Feyenoord) are other Nigerian players that scored in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
