December 24, (THEWILL) – Anthony Joshua delivered a “punch-perfect performance” last _ to comfortably defeat Otto Wallin via technical knockout after five dominant rounds in Saudi Arabia. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, was quick to hail the 34-year-old as the “best heavyweight in the world” following the one-sided battle.
Controlling the action from the opening bell, Joshua systematically broke down the overmatched Swede, inflicting damage in the fourth round from which Wallin could not recover. After another Joshua masterclass in the fifth, Wallin failed to answer the bell for round six.
Hearn told TNT Sports “I believe Anthony Joshua is the best heavyweight in the world. It was a punch-perfect performance tonight.”
The emphatic victory continues Joshua’s resurgence after crushing defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2022. He has now won three straight fights in 2023. Hearn predicted “a massive year” lies ahead, with Joshua looking close to his best once more.
Joshua was initially slated to face Deontay Wilder next, but the American suffered a shock upset loss to Joseph Parker on the undercard. Hearn gave a scathing assessment, stating that he did not rate Wilder.
