2023: Our People Will Reject Gov Ayade At The Polls – Senator Jarigbe

September 14, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Senator representing Cross River North in the National Assembly, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, says his people will reject the Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade, in the polls.

Senator Jarigbe, the senatorial candidate of the PDP will square up against the APC’s Professor Ben Ayade in the senatorial elections for the Cross River North District.

Senator Jarigbe disclosed this in Calabar while speaking on his first year anniversary in the Senate, as well as his prospects for the upcoming elections.

In his words, “All I can say to our people is Res ipsa Locuitur. The facts are there to speak for or against Ayade and me.

“Our people have a choice to make between service delivery and a mission of self-preservation by a self-seeking politician, on the other hand.

“Gov. Ayade was in the Senate for four years between 2011 and 2015 and his records are there for everyone to see.

“I have been in the Senate for about a year and my records are there to be assessed, It is as clear as crystals that juxtaposing my performance with his, mine will dwarf his.

“As a Governor, our state has become a sorry sight, taking all these into consideration, Gov. Ayade does not deserve being given any mandate to the senate in 2023 by the people and so he is not a threat, our people will reject him at the polls”, Senator Jarigbe said.

Speaking on his first year anniversary in office, Senator Jarigbe said he hit the ground running and has projects in all the 54 Wards in the senatorial district.

“I took part in the inauguration of the 65-kilometer Okuku-Ecumoga-road in Yala, linking Benue, and was awarded N1.4bn by the ministry of works.

“There is also a 2 kilometers Ikaptang-Aafrike road that would link Bekwarra and Ogoja communities. We have again asked for an intervention on the Ukelele road and it’s under consideration at the moment”, he said.

He added that he has embarked on the aggressive water supply to 21 communities across the senatorial district.

He said these communities previously lacked access to safe drinking water and were abandoned to their fate by the government and the state.

He stressed that “my mission is to try and attract people–oriented projects that would make life more meaningful to my constituents and that is the essence of representation at any level of governance or leadership.”
