December 07, (THEWILL) – Ogun state Governor Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday directed all serving appointees looking to run for political office in the 2023 elections to resign on or before January 31, 2022.
Abiodun, in a statement by his chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin, said the directive became expedient to avoid distractions in the discharge of their duties
The governor said he is not against the political ambitions of his appointees, but would not tolerate any activity capable of undermining the implementation of his agenda for the future of the state.
He urged appointees who cannot wait for the appropriate period to commence campaigns to resign immediately.
The statement reads “As an administration unwaveringly committed to delivering on its electoral promises, any activity that is capable of undermining the implementation of the Building Our Future Together agenda of the administration will not be tolerated.
“Governor Abiodun counselled that those who cannot wait till the appropriate time for 2023 electioneering process should take their leave to pursue their ambitions without constituting a clog in the wheel of the implementation of government programmes and activities.”
