2023: Chief Kente Declares Taraba Guber Ambition

April 16, (THEWILL) – An aspirant of the number one seat in Taraba state, under the All progressives Congress (APC), Chief David Sabo Kente, has expressed readiness to make education and Internally Generated Revenue priority if elected as the next Governor.

Kente, who said this in Jalingo while officially declaring his intentions to contest the governorship ticket of the APC in 2023, said that it will no longer be business as usual as he will adopt different measures to tackle salient areas in the state.

Chief Kente, a Board member of the North East Development Commission and Founder of DSK Foundation, explained that in giving special attention to the educational sector, the double stream teaching and learning model will be introduced, where the same facility will be used to teach double the number of students.

“In the double stream system, students will attend both morning and evening classes and that way, the funds will be maximised to employ more capable hands to teach the students, improve welfare as well as infrastructure.

“This system will equally reduce the number of out of school children in the state”, he said.

In the area of Internally Generated Revenue, the gubernatorial hopeful said that the state is highly endowed with agricultural and mineral resources that can enhance the economy of the state if well tapped.

“Taraba state is highly endowed and it doesn’t need to continue to rely on federal allocation alone. These resources need capable hands that can tap them to boost the economy of the state and that is what we will do.

“Having gained experience and knowledge in business, I will use that to properly harness these resources to make Taraba the state of our dream.”

Explaining the need for competence in running the state, Chief Kente said there is so much that can be done to make Taraba an enviable state and all that is needed is competent and capable hands.

He said the All Progressives Congress does not bother about zoning, they deal with competence rather.

“Our party doesn’t care about zoning, we are more concerned with competence. If a person is competent enough to do right by the people, the issue of zoning doesn’t hinder such a person”, he said.

Recall that Chief David Sabo Kente was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in 2015 and an aspirant for the ticket of the APC in the 2019 governorship race in the state.
