May 01, (THEWILL) – Minister, Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has been identified as the only presidential aspirant that would be totally committed to continuing with the fight against insecurity, disunity and implementation of policies and programs of President Muhamadu Buhari, if given the mandate to succeed him.
This was part of the resolutions of a sociopolitical group; National Coalition For Strategic Imapact And Unity (NACOSIU), after its strategic meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
According to a statement signed by Alhaji Abdulrahman Bello and Bassey Etim, President and Secretary of the group respectively and made available to THEWILL correspondent in Uyo.
According to the statement, after thorough deliberations and nationwide consultations with stakeholders from other groups, on the way forward for Nigeria as President Buhari prepares to exit in 2023, the group came to the conclusion that, Senator Akpabio remains the only aspirant among the lot, that will continue and improve upon the programs and legacies of President Muhamadu Buhari.
The statement stated further that, “Having listened to the Minister in one of his statements that the type of President Nigeria needs, post Buhari administration, is that person who will continue with President Buhari’s fight against insecurity, disunity and the economy.
“We are more than convinced that Akpabio is the only one who fits into the succession agenda of Mr President and should be encouraged to throw in his hat in the ring.
“We join all well meaning Nigerians, groups and organisations to call on the Hon Minister, Godswill Akpabio, to without any further hesitations, join the presidential race, because he has all it takes to take this country to the next level”, the statement noted.
It says Akpabio has been tested and he is trusted. He did a lot as a governor, he excelled as a Senator and as a Minister of the Federal Republic, he has never been found wanting. His landmark achievements, through the full support of President Buhari in the corruption infested Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC).
The successful completion of the Forensic Audit into the activities of the NDDC, stands Akpabio out as the man that has passion for development just like his boss, President Buhari.
