March 17, (THEWILL)- Juventus’ Serie A title hopes took another blow on Saturday, as they were held to a frustrating 0-0 home draw by a determined Genoa side. The stalemate means Massimiliano Allegri’s men have won just once in their last eight league games.
Despite dominating possession, Juventus struggled to create clear-cut chances against their well-organised opponents. Genoa went close to taking a shock lead when Matti Bani’s glancing header forced a fine save from Wojciech Szczesny. At the other end, Federico Gatti’s long-range effort was routinely dealt with by Josep Martinez.
Allegri rang the changes after the break, introducing Adrien Rabiot, Kenan Yildiz and Samuel Iling-Junior. The substitutes injected some urgency, with Iling-Junior striking the post. Dusan Vlahovic then went close twice, heading narrowly wide before firing off target after good work from Andrea Cambiaso.
Juventus laid siege to the Genoa goal late on but Moise Kean was denied by the woodwork. Their frustrations boiled over in stoppage time when Vlahovic was dismissed for two bookable offences. However, Genoa held firm to earn a hard-fought point in Turin.
The draw leaves Juventus third, missing the chance to leapfrog AC Milan into second. Genoa, meanwhile, secured their first away point against Juventus since 2018.
