Court Adjourns Suit Seeking To Stop Bayero From Parading Self As Emir

June 24, (THEWILL) – A Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Amina Aliyu, has adjourned until July 2, 2024, ruling on a suit seeking to stop the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and four others from parading themselves as Emirs in the state.

The applicants including the attorney-general of Kano State, Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and the Kano State House of Assembly, had through their counsel Ibrahim Isah-Wangida Esq, filed a motion ex-parte dated May 27, against Bayero and four other deposed emirs.

The four other deposed emirs include Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero (Bichi), Dr Ibrahim Abubakar ll (Karaye), Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa (Rano), and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya (Gaya).
Other defendants in the suit are the inspector-general of police (IGP), the director of the Department of Security Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Army.

Justice Aliyu had on May 27, granted an order of interim injunction restraining the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th respondents, themselves, servants, and privies, from parading themselves as emirs in the interest of peace in Kano.
