October 05, (THEWILL) – Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has constituted a committee to examine and ascertain the cause of the collapse of the Alau Dam which resulted in the flooding of Maiduguri Metropolis and its surrounding local government areas.
Alhahji Bukar Tijani, Secretary to the Borno State Government, announced this in a statement on Friday night.
A part of the dam collapsed on September 10, causing severe flooding that displaced nearly two million people and destroyed several properties.
The Alau Dam was constructed between 1984 and 1986 to provide water for irrigation and domestic use for the inhabitants of Maiduguri and its environs.
Members of the constituted committee, according to the statement, are:

The statement added that the committee would be inaugurated on Saturday, at 2 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Government House.
