December 05, (THEWILL) – Torino emerged victorious with a 3-0 scoreline over Atalanta in Monday night’s Serie A clash. A brace by on-loan Atalanta striker, Duvan Zapata, and a second-half Antonio Sanabria penalty secured the dominant home win.
Zapata wasted no time getting on the score sheet against his parent club, slotting home in the 22nd minute off a Nikola Vlasic cross. He nearly doubled the lead minutes later, with a point-blank shot saved by keeper Juan Musso. Atalanta’s best chance of the half came from Charles De Ketelaere, returning from injury, whose 37th-minute effort was denied by Torino’s Vanja Milenkovic-Savic.
The second half opened with more Torino pressure, including another near Zapata goal in the 52nd. Shortly after, a VAR review awarded Torino a penalty when defender Alessandro Buongiorno was fouled in the area. Sanabria converted to make it 2-0 in the 56th minute.

Atalanta’s late attacking efforts could not recover the deficit. Zapata ultimately sealed victory with a twisting solo run and clinical left-footed finish in injury time.
The loss keeps Atalanta 8th on the Serie A table, now one point above 10th-placed Torino. For Zapata, the brace will be a telling performance against his parent side, who he clearly still relishes scoring against.
