February 08, (THEWILL) – Sheffield United earned a place in the FA Cup fifth round with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Wrexham on Tuesday.
The early stages of the match were dominated by Sheffield United, with their main threat coming from corners, while Wrexham created some opportunities through Jacob Mendy, on the left. James McAtee had a chance to put Sheffield United ahead in the first half but his shot went wide of the post.
In the second half, Anel Ahmedhodzic put Sheffield United ahead with a clinical finish after a smart pass from McAtee. Wrexham equalised from the penalty spot with Paul Mullin’s successful conversion, but missed the chance to take the lead a few moments later after missing another penalty.

Despite this, Sheffield United persevered and eventually secured the win through Billy Sharp’s late goal and Sander Berge’s sealer not long after Sharp.
Sheffield United will now face Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round, and will be hoping to continue their journey in the competition. Despite the result, Wrexham will be pleased with their performance against superior opposition and can hold their heads high for having come this far.
