Woman Appeals To Alia, Others To Offset Medical Bill, Release Daughter From Hospital Custody

May 23, (THEWILL) – A mother of five, whose daughter has been held in the hospital since the 3rd of April, 2024, over the inability to offset a medical bill of N450,000, has appealed to Governor Hyacinth Alia, public-spirited individuals and organisations, to come to her aid.

Mrs Desem Abraham, who hails from Mbakine community, in Gwer East local Government Council Area of Benue State, walked into Radio Benue Newsroom and explained that her pregnant daughter, Mrs Seember Ishoribo, was taken to Saint Vincent Hospital, Aliade, the headquarters of Gwer East local Government by her husband.

According to Mrs Abraham, her daughter’s husband later abandoned her because of the complications arising in the course of delivery, resulting in a cesarean section.

She said the hospital management had charged the sum of N450,000 in medical bills, while a part payment of N240,000 was paid, with an outstanding balance of N210,000.

“The mother and her newborn child will be discharged from the hospital after payment of the outstanding balance. At the moment, they are staying outside the maternity ward of the hospital.”

Mrs Abraham, while expressing the hope that Governor Alia, on getting the news over their plight would act fast, is also appealing to anyone wishing to assist to contact her on telephone number 07032129622.

He stated that apart from the medical bills, feeding and other expenses are hanging on the family’s neck for the survival of the mother and her child.
