Wike Sacks Aide Who Allegedly Has Sympathy For APC

SAN FRANCISCO, November 11, (THEWILL) – The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has sacked his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Protocol, Sir Joe Akpa.

This was disclosed in Port Harcourt, on Friday, by Simeon Nwakaudu, Wike’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, saying the Governor wished Akpa well in his future endeavours.

Although, no official reason was given for the sack of Akpa, THEWILL gathered that the act may be connected to the accusations against Akpa of fraternising with some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

“Wike, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), simply capitalised on a minor breach of protocol to remove the SSA,” a source told THEWILL.

“Wike’s action is calculated ahead of the December 10 legislative rerun by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as he no longer trusts Akpa.

“Akpa has been seen with Amaechi’s people and some APC leaders in the state and you know this election is a very sensitive period where both parties have vowed to fire from all cylinders.”
