August 27, (THEWILL) – Music producer Olumide Ogunade, professionally known as ID Cabasa, has revealed why he and former signee, Abolore Akande, better known as 9ice, fell out about 14 years ago.
In an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, ID Cabasa revealed that 9ice was upset by his decision to continue working with his ex-wife, Toni Payne.
Payne managed the artistes under Cabasa’s record label, Coded Tunes, which housed her estranged husband, 9ice and Olamide Adedeji at the time.
ID Cabasa’s decision to continue working with Payne after the couple’s messy breakup did not sit well with 9ice, who eventually severed ties with the producer.
Throwing more light on his reason for working with Payne, ID Cabasa shared a video on Instagram, where he disclosed reason for keeping Payne in his team.
According to the producer, he did it for 9ice and Payne’s son, Zion, who was born in 2008.
“When I started pushing Olamide, you notice I brought Toni Payne, 9ice was angry, but he had no idea why I brought Payne in.
“I brought Payne in because I needed to keep Payne and Zion close to 9ice.
“I had my network. Mr Kupuloyi was my publicist. if I needed anyone to move my artistes around, I can find someone, but I saw Payne and I noticed she wanted a reconciliation.
“I felt if she takes Zion abroad, 9ice may never see his son again”, he revealed.
