August 14, (THEWILL) – The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu says an European national has been identified as the mastermind behind the proliferation of foreign flags during the recent nationwide protests against hunger and economic hardship in Nigeria.
Making his presentation titled, “The Nationwide Protest As It Affects National Security”, before the National Council of State meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, the NSA said the European (unnamed), will soon be declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, presided over the National Council of State meeting held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa.
The meeting took place just three days after the nationwide protests against ‘EndBadGovernance’ in Nigeria Protest.
Viral videos from the protests in Kano, Kaduna and Zamfara States, showed demonstrators waving foreign flags, including the Russian flag, and chanting in Hausa, “We don’t want bad government” and “Welcome, Russia.”
While the National Council of State condemned the act, it also said the action was targeted to effect a regime change.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has successfully traced and blocked a total of N83 billion in cryptocurrency and fiat money allegedly channelled towards funding the protests
According to source with direct knowledge of the Council meeting, “The government was able to trace $50 million to crypto wallets that were donations to the protests. They succeeded in blocking four of those wallets containing $38 million. They also discovered that political actors contributed N4 billion to fund the protests.”
