August 05, (THEWILL) – West Ham United have completed the signing of German striker, Niclas Fullkrug, from Borussia Dortmund. The 31-year-old has joined the English Premier League club on a four-year contract, as announced on Monday.
Fullkrug, who was previously linked with West Ham before joining Dortmund from Werder Bremen last season, expressed his excitement about moving to England. “I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and for me it is the right time to move over to England and play for a big Club like West Ham,” he stated.
The striker’s impressive record at Dortmund, where he scored 16 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions, caught the attention of West Ham’s management. Fullkrug also highlighted his familiarity with West Ham’s Technical Director Tim Steidten, whom he worked with at Werder Bremen.
While the exact financial terms were not disclosed, reports suggest that West Ham paid approximately £27 million for the German international. This significant investment demonstrates the club’s commitment to strengthening their attacking options for the upcoming season.
Fullkrug’s recent international experience, including his participation in Germany’s EURO 2024 squad where he scored twice in five matches, adds further value to West Ham’s acquisition. The club will be hoping that his goal-scoring talents translate well to the EPL as they aim to improve their standing in the 2024/2025 season.
