July 13, (THEWILL) – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has assured the people of the state that he will not steal their money and warned that anybody who steals government money under his watch will be dealt with decisively.

“This Government will not steal your money. Anybody who steals your money under our watch will be properly and decisively dealt with.

“Your money put under our trust and care is safe and secure and is being used to implement policies and programmes that will improve your lives,” Yusuf said.

The Governor sounded the warning on Saturday while launching the second phase of empowerment of women drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state at the Government House.

While launching the programme, Yusuf announced that a total of N260 million would be disbursed to 5,200 women drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state.

He said each of the beneficiaries would get N50,000 as a grant to enable them to start their own businesses towards self-reliance.

“This money we are giving you today is your money; you should not give it to anyone; It is meant to empower you to start your own businesses that will enable you to become self-reliant,” he said.

The Governor noted that the government would continue to empower new sets of women drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state with N260 million monthly, till the end of its tenure.

He explained that the gesture was in fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people of the state and in appreciation of the contribution of women to the ascension of his administration to power.

“You, alongside other people of our great state, voted us into power, as such, we are showing appreciation to you and we will continue to show appreciation for your gesture through the implementation of programmes that will improve your lives,” he added.
