June 12, (THEWILL) – Usain Bolt demonstrated his dexterity in goal-scoring during a charity football match on Sunday, at the Soccer Aid for UNICEF game.
The event, organised by Fund, aimed to generate money for charitable causes, particularly focused on children in times of adversity. Taking place at Manchester United’s renowned home ground, Old Trafford, this year’s clash featured Teams, England and Soccer Aid World XI FC.
The illustrious Bolt captained the World XI team and took up a position on the left wing, with newly appointed Chelsea FC manager, Mauricio Pochettino, coaching the side. In the eighth minute, Bolt made his initial attempt at scoring, narrowly missing the target. However, another opportunity came in the 23rd minute, and he delivered a clinical finish to notch the opening goal for his team as the game reached half-time.
In the second half, Team England fought back with Asa Butterfield levelling the score. However, Robbie Keane’s impressive brace in the 64th and 70th minutes tipped the scales in favour of Team World XI after Paul Scholes had scored to make it 2-2. Adding to the success of Team World, Kem Cetinay netted a fourth goal, solidifying his position as Soccer Aid’s all-time leading goalscorer and securing a victory for World XI.
The match proved to be not only an exciting display of football skills but also a tremendous success in terms of charity. A remarkable total of £14,619,005 was raised during the event, which will be channelled towards providing crucial support to those in need.
