UEFA Delays Israel Matches Due To Ongoing Conflict With Hamas

October 12, (THEWILL) – The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Thursday, that the Euro 2024 qualifier between Kosovo and Israel, originally scheduled for this Sunday, has been postponed due to the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.

According to UEFA’s statement, the match has been postponed because Israeli authorities are currently not permitting their national team to travel outside of the country. A new date for the fixture will be determined in the future.

This postponement comes after UEFA had already rescheduled all matches that were set to take place in Israel over the next couple of weeks. This includes Israel’s match against Switzerland, which was originally slated for this Thursday but has now been pushed back to November 15 at a venue still to be confirmed.

In addition to senior national team fixtures, UEFA has also postponed Israel’s upcoming European Under-21 Championship matches as well as an Under-17 mini-tournament Israel was meant to participate in.

The postponements come in the wake of military operations launched against Hamas, which prompted UEFA to take action to delay games scheduled in the region in the near future.
